Recognition awards are something which are awarded to a person or a group of people to adhere and appreciate the excellence in a particular field. Specifically a student, employee or a savior can be appreciated by awarding a certificate of excellence, honorary degree or a recognition award. Recognition awards have several tangible or intangible forms like trophies, certificates, badges, pins, ribbons, plaques, a great looking gift or a respected title. In general practice, a recognition award bears a monetary prize given to the recipient, for example, the Wimbledon award for winning the biggest tennis event of the world. The physical appearance and significance of a recognition award can vary situation to situation. Normally employees, students, athletes or national players are awarded by a well designed crystal, glass, marble or metallic award. Employees in a particular organization can be awarded by a plaque meant to rest on his/her office table speaking to every visitor about the achievements he/she made. Similarly, a think tank, a poet or a highly recognized scholar can be awarded with title (e.g. “Sir”) just to recognize his/her excellent contribution to the community.
The credibility of an award depends on the status from which award is being given. Usually a person, organization, institution or government gives Recognition awards. For instance, the best hosting provider award of the year! Recognition awards mostly overtake the personal identity of the person who won certain prestige. For example Tiger Woods was just a golf player but the moment he won the golf championship award, it became his identity. Similar happens Oscar awards or Nobel Prize holders.
Appreciating the employees by holding events and publically recognizing their services to the company not only boosts their energy and physiologically make them feel elevated. But also it sets standards for other team members as well. If one of them being awarded today, others will definitely wish the same next time.
Another form of appreciating employees is observed in several countries of the world is “Employee of the Month” award. Usually it is not given in a formally organized event or is in a tangible form. However, on the main notice board or some other prominent place in the office is filled by name of employee of the month.
Talking about common understanding about Recognition awards means some trophies, awards, plaques, business card holders etc… made from lead crystal, clear glass, marble or metal. A large ratio of people likes acrylic awards too because of cost effectiveness. But clear glass, marble and crystal awards are known to be the most desired choice as Recognition awards.
